Explaining the Thread

The best sermon I ever read about our covenant used as a preaching text the metaphor of an invincible thread of connection, taken from William Stafford’s poem “The Way It Is”. Thread reminds us of “the interdependent web of all existence” that we UU’s proclaim and celebrate as part of our covenant. That’s one way to explain the thread. I have a different explanation of the thread, as a bridge from the motivating power of love to the ethical commitment of accountability. Join me as we explore the different ways we are bound together by threads of covenant.
