Inner Sanctuary – Spiritual Practice

How does one achieve inner sanctuary, or inner peace? Using her personal experience and diagnosis of cancer, Sr. Deb will briefly outline her discovery of inner strength and renew. She will also lean upon some of Terry Hershey’s wisdom from his book entitled, “Sanctuary: Creating a space for grace in your Life.”

Ms. Ellen will lead Religious Exploration for school aged children. This Sunday they will learning about alters and sacred objects and even be making and alter for their classroom.
Ms. Bianca will provide childcare will for younger children.

 

Bio:

Sister Debra (Deb) Ann Weina, SSJ-TOSF is a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis. She made Perpetual Profession of Vows in May, 1988. She holds a BS in Human Services with Psychology study from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She has ministered as a Religious Education Coordinator for grades 7-12/Youth Minister at St. Peter Catholic Parish in Oshkosh, WI, was Campus Minister at Lourdes Academy, Oshkosh, Campus Minister and Musician at UW-O Newman Center and just finished 16 years as the congregation’s Vocation Minister. Sister Deb received training as a spiritual director through the Spiritual Guidance Training Program sponsored by the Racine Dominicans at the Siena Retreat Center in Racine, WI in 2011. Sister Deb has also received extensive training in the areas of discernment, decision-making, goal-setting, and women’s spirituality. She has a strong interest in grief recovery work, Native American and Earth Spirituality, as well as Franciscan Studies. Sister Deb currently lives in Stevens Point with her best friend of over 34 years along with several companion animals. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, kayaking, beadwork, playing guitar, photography, watching baseball, and reading.
