The current U.S. administration has proposed legislation narrowing the definition of U.S. citizens to the gender that is listed on their birth certificates. This proposed policy change is discriminatory against a certain population of people, it poses difficult challenges for others, and it promotes intolerance. This talk will introduce you to the biology of sex and gender, sex and gender terminology, biological sex anomalies, how and why gender, from a purely biological standpoint, falls along a continuum, and will discuss the reason why the proposed legislation poses a problem for many people. The purpose of this talk is the educate the public on the many different biological sex and gender anomalies that exist and to further increase awareness and tolerance of the differences that exist among us.
Childcare will be provided.
