The Art of Nurturing Beauty

A visual reflection on capturing moments of beauty “hidden in plain sight” and therein encouraging us all to actively cultivate beauty all around us. Speaker: Rev. James Neilson, O.Praem. St. Norbert College Assistant Professor of Art who is currently serving as a college chaplain.

Speaker bio:

Fr. James Neilson, O. Praem. is a Norbertine priest of St. Norbert Abbey in De Pere, WI. Fr. Neilson has studied art at The School of the Art Institute in Chicago, Notre Dame University, and The Vermont Studio School where he earned an MFA in three-dimensional mixed media sculpture. He is presently an assistant professor of art at St. Norbert College. Fr. Neilson lectures across the country on topics related to art and faith.

Honoring All the Ways We Take Beauty In As UU’s our 7th Principle and our 6th Source remind us that we are interconnected to nature and the wider world. This lesson offers an opportunity to celebrate that connection and honor the many sensory ways we take in the beauty around us.
