A Theology of Connection in Zoomland

Since the invention of the letter and then the telephone, human connection has slowly crept toward the virtual world. Now that the pandemic has rapidly increased this transition, how do we nurture a theology of connection in the virtual land of Zoom?

Important: You will need to use this Zoom link to access the service on Sunday, August 2nd:  https://zoom.us/j/176319484?pwd=S3dQekZoNmNaL2srYm16Y3NyOXcxQT09 (Note that it is different than what you’ve been using).

This is a special service hosted by the Fox Valley Fellowship (Appleton) and includes five additional Fellowships in Northeast Wisconsin: Door County, Green Bay, Open Circle (Fond du Lac), Point (Stevens Point) and Prairie Lakes (Ripon).

What you can expect:

  • A sense of regional Unitarian Universalism that is larger than your own congregation.
  • All elements of our regular service except announcements.
  • Joys and Concerns will be read by Rev. Jim and will not be part of the breakout sessions.  Please email anything you would like to have included in Joys and Concerns to jimuumin@gmail.com by Saturday, August 1st.
  • The congregational response time will be included during the service using the Zoom chat function.
  • All music will be offered by the Music Director and volunteers from the Fox Valley Fellowship.
  • General breakout sessions, (not sorted by congregation), will occur after the service. Everyone will be randomly sorted into groups of 5-6.  A question will be offered in the service to help motivate the conversation.
  • When you first join the Zoom meeting, you will be in a waiting room until you’re allowed in.  You will also be muted automatically when you join.
