What is the Central Rivers Farmshed?

About Farmshed:

Farmshed is made up of community members, a small staff, board of directors, and farmer advisors who care about local food, the environment, and our community. They share concerns about the current food system, are willing to take action, are motivated to change the way we relate to our food, and are working hard to connect the dots so that everyone knows where their food comes from.

About the Speaker:

Layne has been with Farmshed since 2009, first as a volunteer board member and program organizer. As a volunteer, Layne created Farmshed’s EBT program at the Stevens Point Farmers Market. Layne was then hired as the organization’s first employee in 2011 when they took over the old Sorenson’s Garden Center in downtown Stevens Point. The Farmshed community had dreams of making it a community food center; and have since made that a reality. Layne has overseen Farmshed’s growth and development into the region’s leading local food organization. She also holds a Masters Degree from UWSP in Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems.
